Army Physical Training Directorate praised for improving soldiers’ physical fitness

The officers and soldiers of the Directorate of Army Physical Training (DAPT) have been commended for improving the physical fitness of soldiers and galvanizing the conduct of physical fitness programs at the tactical level in the Nigerian Army.
PT personnel have also been commended for conducting physical efficiency testing, physical fitness assessment and other fitness sports competitions in the Nigerian Army with integrity.
Chief of Training (Army), Major General AB Ibrahim, eulogized during the opening of the first Executive Strategic and Leadership Training Workshop being held in Abuja.
Represented by Major General OT Olatoye at the ceremony, the TOC said: “I am therefore pleased to report that renewed efforts to reinvigorate physical training have improved the fitness of our troops and reduced complaints about the fitness level in the Nigerian Army. I must also acknowledge the successes of the sportsmen and teams of the Nigerian Army under the supervision of the Directorate of Physical Training of the Army. The victory at the 2021 Inter-Services Games, which was the first in more than 12 years, the first position in the military category and the second trophy in the general classification of the 2021 Open National Swimming Championship, among others, are gratifying. I therefore congratulate the Directorate of Physical Training of the Armed Forces for its worthy achievements.
“Furthermore, I am delighted that Management has ventured into constructive engagements with relevant stakeholders towards capacity building and repositioning for better performance. Motivation led to the conceptualization of this first strategic training workshop and leadership with an appropriate theme of “Building Army Physical Training Directorate leadership capabilities for physical training toward combat effectiveness in a joint environment”.
He expressed hope that the discussions at the workshop would be constructive and lead to actionable recommendations that would appropriately prepare and reposition the Directorate to address contemporary fitness issues and preparation for future demands.
Earlier in his welcoming remarks, the director of physical training for the army, Brigadier General Fawole, said that the leadership had made huge efforts over the past year to position itself through various innovations. in physical training.
He said the training was organized to improve the aptitude for combat and sports effectiveness by the NA, “which will lead to the achievement of COAS’ vision of having ‘a professional NA ready to accomplish assigned missions in a common environment in the defense of Nigeria”.
