Candace Cameron Bure Weight Loss Diet, Fitness, Exercise Secrets
Candace Cameron Bure is in the best shape of her life at 40 after overcoming bulimia and maintaining her 22-pound weight loss for six years.
Candace said the years she spent battling her eating disorder were a nightmare.
âIt’s like being on a runaway train and you want to get off but you don’t know how,â Bure told ET (watch video).
Candace, now co-host of The View, said her bulimia became excessive when she was a stay-at-home mom to her three children.
âI kind of lost my identity and turned to food for comfort when my husband was traveling and when I was alone,â said Cameron Bure. “I had a very unhealthy relationship with food which turned into bulimia.”
In 2010, Candace lost 22 pounds and maintained her weight loss with a mostly vegan diet and regular workouts that include weight lifting, cardio exercise, yoga, and Pilates, as Celebrity reported. Health Fitness.
While Cameron Bure is healthy now, she abused diet pills as a teenager and started battling bulimia. Candace recounted her struggles with bulimia in her 2011 memoir, Remodel everything:
âWhen I was 16, I shot an episode of ‘Full House’ where my family goes to Disney World. I remember putting on loose overalls just to hide my stomach. When I looked at it, I was quite disappointed and disappointed to look at myself. I didn’t feel good in my own body.
Cameron Bure’s bulimia flared up again in her late twenties, when she struggled to adjust to being a housewife after the end of “Full House” in 1995 and lived in Canada with her husband, Russian-born hockey player Valeri Bure.
“[Bulimia] it was not for me to try to lose weight, âsaid Bure, a devout Christian. “It was all about the emotions.”
These days, Candace works out for an hour four to five days a week and emphasizes weight lifting as much as cardio exercise.
“I lift heavy weights for about 25 minutes with 35 minutes of cardio on the treadmill or elliptical, âBure said.
âLifting weights has changed my body tremendously and I would never do without it again. The combination of the two [cardio and weights] is all.”
âThis book is the culmination of years when many women wondered how I had managed to have three children and be in better shape now than at 18,â said Candace.
